As I said, the paths up to the caves are a little strenuous. But it is definitely worth the hike. The scenery up in the Sangre's is some of the most beautiful in Colorado. Take a look!
This is the main road that leads up to several of the trail heads that can be used to reach the caves. As you begin up the trail you can see the peaks off in the distance. That rocky portion is where the caves are. The trails leading up give you good views of the mountains but often they go on for miles through thick wooded areas.


Here are a few photos taken before the real excursion began. Three different shots in front of three different caves. They were all in the same general area but notice that all three are quite unique.
TThis cave has the largest entrance of any on this mountain. It's close to 10 feet high! Here I use my astute directional instincts to point the way in. This is the third and smallest (and shortest) of the caves that Dave and I entered.
