In February of 1999 my friends and I set out on an 8-day excursion to the Rocky Mountains of beautiful Colorado. The place was Wolf Creek, Colorado to be exact. And this was one incredible trip. The most incredible part is that it actually happened. I guess you do get a little wiser as you get older. Not much but a little. Anyway, the trip was a smashing success. Only 5 out 6 people got hurt and everybody had a blast. It even snowed for us the 3rd day there and was sunny and warm most of the time. Paradise indeed. Here are some of the trip photos that Dave sent me and you can also check out Jason's snowboarding trip photos that he posted up.

Enjoy! (I know I did)

Here is a picture of us about to depart from New Mexico in our rented 4x4. Nice ride. It was plenty crowded with all of us and all our gear. So we had to stick Ernie in the very back with the luggage. But that's ok 'cus he's use to it :-)
Here is a nice panoramic shot of the mountains in the area. These are the San Juan's between Pagosa Springs and Durango. How could you not want to snowboard down these things!?
This is the cabin we called home for 8 days. It was a little crowded with all 6 of us but not too bad. It was only about 8 miles from Wolf Creek Pass so that made things pretty convenient for us. There was a creek out back and it had all the "basic" comforts of home.
Here is Jason and I on the lift the very first day. I think he looks a little nervous. And well he should. Ernie got a gimped shoulder (see below), Dave hurt his ankle, I bit part of my tongue off (ouch!), Mike got pretty beat up just learning, and there were numerous other minor mishaps.
Now this is the life. Hanging out on a mountain with no worries in sight. The snow was awsome, the weather was good, and the beer was ok. All in all I could do this everyday if someone let me (or paid me so I could afford it).
In this one, Ernie proves that it is possible to find places a Wolf Creek to get a little air. Actually, Erich bet Ernie a dollar that he wouldn't risk his life by dropping this 30-foot cliff. Erich had to cough over $1 and Ernie's had his shoulder in and out of a sling ever since. But hey... some things are just worth a dollar!
Here are a few of us (Ernie, Erich, me, Jason) hanging out atop the mountain getting psyched for one of our last runs. I'm guessing that Dave took the picture and that Mike had had enough by then. Needless to say we were all pretty beat by the last day.
A nice group shot at the Wolf Creek Pass overlook. This was taken on our way out to Durango during our one day off from boarding. It was a fun trip and we got to see some different parts of Colorado. We also had to pick up a cane for Old-Man-Dave who had tweaked his ankle (getting off the lift?).
And here is everybody together for lunch on the last day at the mountain. A sad time indeed. We were pretty worn out too. But that just means we made the most of our days while we were there. I good time was had!!
